The hard part of totaling a week of hours is the overnight shift. Clock in at 22:00, clock out at 06:00, and a plain subtraction hands you a negative number instead of the 7.5 hours you worked after a 30-minute break. Enter each day and you'll get per-day hours and a weekly total, worked out the same way whether or not JavaScript is switched on.

Frequently asked questions

How does this time card calculator handle overnight shifts?

When your clock-out time is the same as or earlier than your clock-in time (like 22:00 in, 06:00 out), the calculator treats the shift as crossing midnight and adds 24 hours before subtracting your break, so a 22:00-06:00 shift with a 30-minute break correctly comes out to 7.50 hours.

Are unpaid breaks subtracted automatically?

Yes. Enter your break length in minutes and it's subtracted from the raw hours between clock-in and clock-out for that day.

What happens if I leave a day blank?

Blank rows are ignored entirely. They don't count as a zero-hour day and don't affect your weekly total.

What if my break is longer than my shift?

The calculator shows 0.00 hours for that day with a visible note rather than a negative number. It never silently produces the wrong total.

Hours = clock-out − clock-in − break; a shift crossing midnight adds 24h. Not payroll advice.
